Biography
Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad is a distinguished Somali diplomat and former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2018–2020). He also served as Somalia’s Ambassador to the United States, where he reopened the Somali Embassy in Washington, D.C., after 24 years of closure. With extensive experience in diplomacy, peacebuilding, and governance through his work with the United Nations and participation in Somali reconciliation processes, Ambassador Awad brings deep expertise in representing national interests on the global stage. He holds a Master’s in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University and studied Political Science at Concordia University, Canada.
As coach of the Diplomacy and International Affairs course, Ambassador Awad will draw on his decades of service to equip leaders with the skills to navigate global affairs, strengthen international partnerships, and represent national interests effectively
